Terms of Service
Last updated: August 27, 2026
1. What these terms cover
These Terms of Service (the "Terms") are an agreement between you and Exchange Rate Management ("we", "us"), the operator of exchangerate.management, covering the website, dashboard, embeddable widget, TV rate board, APIs, and MCP server (together, the "Services"). By creating an account or using the Services you agree to these Terms.
The Services are built for businesses — currency exchanges, money changers, travel agencies, and other organizations that post their own exchange rates. By using the Services you confirm you are doing so for business purposes and that you are authorized to bind the business you use them for.
2. What the Services are (and are not)
The Services let your business publish its own buy and sell exchange rates to your website and to screens in your premises, from one dashboard. Optionally, on paid plans, selected currency pairs can be updated once a day from a third-party market data feed using margins you configure ("automatic rates").
The Services are a display and publishing tool. They are not:
- a source of market or interbank exchange rates for trading or settlement purposes;
- financial, investment, tax, or pricing advice;
- a money-transfer, payment, or currency-conversion service for your customers; or
- a compliance tool for the regulatory obligations of a currency-exchange business.
3. Your account and your API keys
You are responsible for your account credentials and for everything that happens under your account. Keep your password secret and tell us promptly at info@exchangerate.management or via the contact form if you believe your account has been compromised.
The Services issue API keys. Anything done with your API key — by your website embed, your staff, your own software, or an AI assistant you connect (for example through our MCP server) — is treated as done by you. Note that the widget embed necessarily places your API key in your website’s public HTML; that is by design, and you can revoke and reissue keys in the dashboard at any time.
4. Your rates are yours
Every rate the Services display for your account is a price you entered by hand or a price derived from automation rules and margins you configured. We do not set, review, endorse, or advise on your prices.
You are solely responsible for:
- the accuracy of the rates shown on your board, widget, and website;
- the transactions you conduct at your counter, whatever your screens display at the time; and
- checking your published rates regularly, especially after editing them, changing automation settings, or granting anyone (or any software) access to your account or API key.
We are not a party to any transaction between you and your customers, and we have no liability for the prices you display or honour.
5. Automatic rates
Automatic rates are optional and off by default. When you enable them for a currency pair, you choose the margins, and the Services derive a daily price from a third-party market data feed. You should review the priced preview before arming a pair and check your board after changes.
Market data feeds can be delayed, interrupted, or wrong, and scheduled updates can fail or be skipped. The Services include safeguards that are designed to prefer not updating over updating wrongly (for example, pausing a pair after a hand edit or an unusually large market move), but we do not warrant that any safeguard will catch any particular error. Automatic rates do not change your responsibility under Section 4: the resulting prices are still your prices.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Services in violation of applicable law;
- probe, disable, overload, or interfere with the Services, or attempt to access another customer’s account or data;
- resell, white-label, or provide the Services to third parties as your own service without our written agreement;
- use the Services to display rates in a deliberately misleading way, or on sites engaged in unlawful activity; or
- make automated calls at a volume that goes materially beyond what the widget, rate board, and documented integrations reasonably require.
We may suspend or throttle access that violates this section, and where practical we will tell you why.
7. Plans, billing, and cancellation
The Services offer a free plan and paid plans, described on the pricing page. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store your card details. Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from the dashboard (via the billing portal); cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid for, and your plan’s paid features remain available until then.
Fees already paid are non-refundable except where a refund is required by applicable law or we agree to one. If we increase the price of a plan you are subscribed to, we will give you at least 30 days’ notice before the new price applies to you. Prices may exclude taxes, which are your responsibility where they apply.
Feature limits of the free plan (for example, which currency pairs are publicly displayed) are described on the pricing page and may evolve; we will not remove a paid plan’s core capability mid-subscription without the notice described in Section 11.
8. Your regulatory compliance
Currency exchange is a regulated activity in most places. You are solely responsible for your business’s compliance with the laws that apply to it — including licensing and registration (for example, MSB registration with FINTRAC in Canada or equivalent bodies elsewhere), anti-money-laundering obligations, and any rules about how exchange rates and fees must be displayed to your customers. The Services give you a screen; what must be on it in your jurisdiction is for you and your advisors to determine.
9. Your data, our licence
You own the data you put into the Services — your rates, settings, and account information. You grant us the licence needed to operate the Services: to host, store, process, transmit, and display that data on your instructions (for example, serving your rates to your website visitors and your shop screens), and to keep backups. We may use data in aggregated or anonymized form — never identifying you or your business — to operate and improve the Services.
How we handle personal information is described in our Privacy Policy.
10. Intellectual property
The Services, including their software, design, and content (but excluding your data), are owned by us or our licensors. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use them as they are intended to be used — including embedding the widget on your own websites — for as long as these Terms are in effect. You may not copy, modify, or create derivative works of the Services except as the Services themselves are designed to allow.
If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without obligation to you.
11. Availability and changes to the Services
We work to keep the Services available and the widget and rate board are designed to keep showing the last known rates through short outages — but we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation, and no service level is guaranteed unless we agree to one in writing.
We improve the Services continuously and may add, change, or remove features. We take backward compatibility of the embed seriously — the snippet you paste is meant to keep working. If we ever discontinue the Services or remove a capability that a paid plan materially depends on, we will give at least 30 days’ notice by email or in the dashboard.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE". TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES AND CONDITIONS, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, MERCHANTABLE QUALITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, DURABILITY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTY THAT THE SERVICES, ANY MARKET DATA FEED, OR ANY AUTOMATIC RATE WILL BE ACCURATE, TIMELY, UNINTERRUPTED, OR ERROR-FREE.
13. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW: (A) WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST REVENUE, LOST SAVINGS, OR LOSS OF DATA; (B) WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY LOSS ARISING FROM EXCHANGE TRANSACTIONS YOU CONDUCT, OR DECLINE TO CONDUCT, AT ANY PRICE DISPLAYED THROUGH THE SERVICES; AND (C) OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICES IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM AND US$100.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations; in those jurisdictions, this section applies to the fullest extent permitted.
14. Indemnification
You will defend and indemnify us against third-party claims — including claims by your customers — arising from the rates and other content you publish through the Services, the transactions you conduct, your violation of law, or your breach of these Terms.
15. Suspension and termination
You can stop using the Services and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms, if your use creates risk or legal exposure for us or for other customers, or if required by law — where reasonable, with notice and a chance to fix the problem first. On termination, your widgets and boards stop displaying rates. Sections that by their nature should survive (including 4, 9, 12, 13, 14, and 16) survive termination.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before starting any formal proceeding, you agree to contact us and give us 30 days to try to resolve the dispute in good faith. Any dispute that cannot be resolved that way will be brought in the courts of Ontario, Canada, and both sides consent to their jurisdiction. Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking injunctive relief, or deprives you of the protection of mandatory rules of law in the place where you are established.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the Services evolve. If a change is material, we will give at least 14 days’ notice by email or a notice in the dashboard before it takes effect; the "Last updated" date above always reflects the current version. Continuing to use the Services after a change takes effect means you accept it. If you do not accept a change, stop using the Services and, for paid plans, cancel before the change takes effect.
18. General
If a provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of the Services, and will notify you if we do. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between us about the Services.
19. Contact
Questions about these Terms: info@exchangerate.management or the contact form.
